What can a lead based paint inspection/risk assessment do you for you?

  • If you are about to make a home purchase, be sure you not buying a home with lead based paint hazards. A lead paint inspection will tell you where the lead paint is located and if the condition of the paint poses a hazard to you and your child’s health.
  • Protect yourself from legal action. If you own rental property, you may want a lead inspection so that you can obtain a certificate of lead safe. A certificate of lead safe states that there are no lead based paint hazards and can only be issued by a licensed risk assessor.

  • Some Rental insurance policies require a lead paint inspection, along with a certificate of lead safe, before a policy can be issued. A certificate of lead safe can also reduce the cost of your insurance premiums.
  • Resale value- Having a lead paint inspection will inform a potential home buyer if lead paint is present and/or if it has been controlled and maintained properly.
